Why I started a journal on the open web

A first entry, and a small promise to keep writing here.

This is the first entry, and like most first entries it is mostly a promise: I’m going to keep things here. Essays, photographs, half-formed thoughts that deserve better than a caption.

I wanted a place that belongs to me — no feed deciding who sees what, no character limits, no compression artifacts on the photos. Just a page with my name on it.

A website is a room you get to arrange exactly the way you like.

So that’s the plan. Some entries will be long, some will be three photos and a sentence. Either way, they’ll live at this address.
